Kenya has launched a five-year project, SYMBIOTIC, to integrate biodiversity considerations into its economic planning, finance, and investment strategies.

The project aims to strengthen the link between biodiversity and economic growth, fostering a bioeconomy.
Key organizations involved include the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), leading the implementation in Kenya, and the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU), which leads the overall project.
Funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN), the project runs from February 2026 to January 2031 and also operates in Ethiopia, Madagascar, Indonesia, and Kyrgyzstan.
