Nairobi High Court has ruled in favor of online taxi-hailing company Bolt, striking down government regulations that imposed an 18 per cent commission cap on ride-hailing services.

The court declared the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) Transport Network Companies, Owners, Drivers and Passengers Regulations, 2022, procedurally defective and unconstitutional.
Justice Roselyn Aburili cited a lack of public participation and unfair discrimination against digital platforms compared to traditional taxis.
The ruling allows commission rates to be determined through negotiations between Bolt and its drivers, rather than being dictated by the government.
