Kenya has officially established diplomatic relations with the Solomon Islands, marking a significant expansion of its diplomatic reach into the Pacific region.

• The agreement was formalized by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Solomon Islands Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade Rick Nelson Houenipwela on Tuesday, September 22, during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 81).
• This new partnership is expected to foster cooperation in areas such as trade, the blue economy, and climate action, creating new opportunities for Kenyan youth and entrepreneurs.
• The establishment of this direct bilateral relationship enhances Kenya's diplomatic footprint in Oceania, which has historically been managed through its missions in Australia and New Zealand.
