The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is significantly expanding diaspora voter registration from 12 to 26 countries to boost Kenyan participation in the August 2027 General Elections.

• The IEBC plans to register approximately 400,000 voters from 16 new countries, including Saudi Arabia, Australia, and China (Guangzhou).
• The IEBC Chairperson, Erastus Ethekon, stated this expansion aligns with the constitutional right of Kenyans abroad to vote.
• The commission has requested Sh502 million for this initiative but has only been allocated Sh400 million, risking the plan's success.
