The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has launched an investigation into a fatal road crash that occurred on the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway, resulting in multiple fatalities.

• 17 Catholic pilgrims were killed instantly in the pre-dawn crash at Salama, Makueni County.
• The NTSA has dispatched a multidisciplinary crash investigation team to the scene to determine the cause, including vehicle inspection and compliance.
• The pilgrims were travelling from St Mathias Mulumba Catholic Church, Mikindani Parish in Mombasa to Subukia for the National Prayer Day.
