Nurses and Teachers Protest Over Labor and Posting Disputes - August 2025

Over 300 intern nurses protested at the Ministry of Health headquarters after their postings were abruptly revoked, demanding the release of their appointment letters. The protesting interns contested the decision made by Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale. Separately, nurses in Kisumu who have been on strike temporarily halted their demonstrations to donate blood for road crash victims. In the education sector, the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has criticized the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for allowing teachers to stagnate in the same job group for over ten years.
