County Governors Reject Treasury Directive on E-Procurement System - September 2025

The Council of Governors has rejected a directive from the Treasury that mandates the migration of all government agencies to a new electronic procurement platform. Following a special council meeting, the governors declared they would not comply with the order. This has led to a halt in services at county governments after the Ministry of Finance ordered the use of the new E-GP expenditure system, disrupting operations. Separately, governors have also urged the National Treasury to expedite the implementation of a digital procurement system to streamline the acquisition of goods and services and release funds to county governments.
