Government Grants 10-Month Reprieve to 7,400 UHC Staff Amid Payroll Dispute - September 2025

The government has granted a 10-month reprieve to 7,400 Universal Health Coverage (UHC) staff, halting their planned transfer to county payrolls. For the upcoming year, the Ministry of Health will continue paying their salaries at SRC rates. The fate of these UHC staff had remained uncertain as the Council of Governors (CoG) demanded KES 7.7 billion before it would absorb them.
