Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi Re-elected as Council of Governors (COG) Chair - October 2025

Governors convened to elect a new leadership team for the Council of Governors in Kenya. Following the election, Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi was re-elected as the chair of the Council of Governors (COG). Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga also retained his position as Deputy Chairman. One report stated that Ahmed Abdullahi was elected as the new chairman of the council, with newly elected officials scheduled to meet on Monday. Another story reported that Ahmed Abdullahi, the outgoing governor of Wajir County, had stepped down from his role as chairman of the CoG in a leadership transition.
