Over 900,000 Candidates Begin KCSE Examinations Amid Reports of Irregularities - November 2025
The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations have commenced nationally, with over 990,000 candidates sitting for the tests under stringent security and technological surveillance. Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba and Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok launched the exams in Kwale and Nairobi, assuring a smooth process. However, the exams have been marred by allegations of misconduct. A KCSE official in Narok has been removed from their post due to irregularities. Additionally, a teacher in Narok County was suspended pending an investigation into exam irregularities, and a high school in Kajiado is under scrutiny for alleged exam theft. Authorities in Migori County, where 31,627 candidates are sitting the exam, have implemented strict measures to combat malpractice.
