The new e-procurement system has severely hindered development spending in Kenyan counties, with many reporting zero expenditure according to a Controller of Budget report. In Kilifi, Governor Gideon Mung’aro has announced that the county will cancel all pending projects for which contractors failed to seek extensions, emphasizing accountability for stalled works. In contrast, Isiolo County is set to receive a Sh44.8 million boost under the Kuza Jamii project, aimed at bolstering livelihoods for 1,500 vulnerable households.
