Government Announces Sh44.2bn Education Capitation and Teacher Employment - January 2026
The Kenyan government has disbursed Sh44.2 billion in capitation funds to public basic education institutions. According to CS Ogamba, this significant financial release aims to support learners across the country. Additionally, CS Ogamba announced that the government has employed a record 100,000 teachers since 2023, with a significant number recruited this year. At the county level, Nairobi Governor Sakaja Johnson launched a Ksh 170 million secondary school scholarship program to support students from needy backgrounds. In Suna East Sub-county, over 120 students from the Oruba Ragana Ward also received educational scholarships to attend various training colleges.
