Leaders from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have announced their intention to form a pre-election coalition with President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA). Led by figures like Governor Wanga, the ODM leaders expressed fatigue with being in the opposition. A recent ODM rally in Tononoka centered on this complex relationship between the two parties. In talks with UDA, ODM leaders have reiterated their demand for the Deputy President position to be reserved for a woman from their party. During discussions in Kwale and Mombasa, the leaders also criticized their own Party Secretary, Edwin Sifuna.
