President Ruto hands over EAC chairmanship to Uganda's Museveni at Arusha summit - March 2026

President William Ruto has handed over the Chairperson position of the East African Community (EAC) to Yoweri Museveni of Uganda during a summit held in Arusha, Tanzania. At the same East African Community Summit, outgoing Chair President Ruto unveiled significant funding reforms for the bloc, aiming to address the community's substantial operating deficit. Meanwhile, President William Ruto has also announced that the government is undertaking several significant development projects in Siaya County, initiatives aimed at boosting infrastructure and providing essential services to the region.
