Over 3,000 families in eight counties of the Central region are at risk of displacement due to floods and landslides. Tragic floods in Makueni county have claimed the lives of at least eight people, with the ongoing deluge causing widespread devastation across the region. Floods have also disrupted learning in several schools across Nairobi and Makueni, with the cumulative death toll from recent downpours reaching 44. Authorities in Thika East are urging residents to relocate to higher ground following the overflow of the Athi River. A family in Kajiado is urgently appealing for governmental assistance to recover the body of a loved one tragically swept away by recent floods.
