Luo nation will not take part in protests, MPs say - June 2026
A group of Kenyan MPs from the Kenya Kwanza administration is urging the Luo nation to abstain from planned protests commemorating those killed in recent demonstrations. Nyando MP Okelo is urging ODM supporters to halt protests and instead embrace government initiatives, stating the government has shown goodwill. In Kisumu, Kenya, hundreds of Gen Z youths opted for voter registration and ID services over protests on the first anniversary of the 2024 anti-Finance Bill demonstrations.
