President William Ruto has accused retired President Uhuru Kenyatta of financially sponsoring Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and the Opposition, urging him to provide adequate funds rather than allowing them to solicit donations from ordinary Kenyans. This accusation comes amid resurfacing tensions between Ruto and Kenyatta following Kenyatta's rejection of Ruto's Beyond Vision 2030 Plan. Opposition leaders including Kalonzo Musyoka, Rigathi Gachagua, and Dr. Fred Matiang'i have accused President Ruto of unfairly targeting the retired President in his ongoing political disputes.
