Police deployed outside Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji's home after Embu chaos
Kindiki vs Gachagua: Blame Game Erupts After Chaos Rocks Embu Rally - September 2026
Chaos erupted at an event in Embu during a UDA delegates' meeting at Nembure Grounds, leading to a public dispute between Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and his predecessor Rigathi Gachagua over alleged attempts to split the Mt Kenya voting bloc. Kenya Kwanza leaders, spearheaded by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah, demanded arrests following the skirmishes, with Ichung'wah pressing Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja to take action against perpetrators. Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji accused police of laying siege to his home, claiming it was retaliation for the violence at the event, though police stated officers were on routine patrol. The Embu chaos has intensified the political rift within the Mt Kenya region ahead of the August 2027 General Election.
