Kenyan Judiciary Adopts AI for Transcriptions as Google Enhances Gemini - August 2025
Kenya's Chief Justice Martha Koome announced on Monday, August 11, that the Judiciary is developing an Artificial Intelligence Adoption Policy Framework to integrate AI into its operations. The policy aims to enhance efficiency while safeguarding judicial independence and data privacy. The Chief Justice also revealed that AI is already being used for court transcriptions, achieving an 80% accuracy rate after improving from an initial 30% by adapting to Kenyan accents and intonations. In a separate technology development, Google’s Gemini app introduced a new “Personal context” feature that allows it to remember past conversations. This update gives the AI a "memory" of user preferences to provide more personalized responses.
