Doctors Demand Salary Increase and Hospitals Report SHA Portal Issues - September 2025
Following the payment of salary arrears, the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) is now demanding that the administration implement a previously agreed-upon salary increase for doctors. KMPDU is also calling for the immediate disbursement of 2024–2025 salary arrears. Separately, the Rural and Urban Private Hospitals Association of Kenya (RUPHA) has raised an alarm over a 'system bug' in the Social Health Authority (SHA) portal, alleging it has reinstated hospitals previously suspended for fraud. Meanwhile, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale confronted a contractor in Uasin Gishu County over significant delays in the construction of the Ziwa Level Five Hospital, a project that began in 2015.
