Shanta Gold has announced the discovery of an estimated KSh 680 billion worth of gold deposits at its mines in Ikolomani, Kakamega. The British company, Shanta Gold Kenya limited, has invested Ksh. 26.87 billion in the venture, and residents of the area are optimistic about the potential benefits. In response, Mining Minister Ali Hassan Joho has assured Kenyans that the extraction of the gold will be conducted transparently. Joho urged Kenyans to allow the government to proceed with the project.
