Teachers Demand Permanent Jobs and Protest Move to SHA Health Scheme - November 2025

Junior Secondary School teachers in Kilifi County are demanding permanent employment from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), threatening to boycott work next year if their demands are not met. Concurrently, teachers unions are raising concerns about a new health insurance agreement. Teachers in Bungoma County, under the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), are protesting the government's decision to shift their health insurance from AON Minet to the new SHA scheme. Broader concerns are also being raised by teachers' union leaders regarding the agreement for teachers to join SHA.
