In a separate event, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua also publicly endorsed Newton Kariuki for the Mbeere North seat during a church service in Embu. The campaign has been marred by conflict, with accusations of violence between the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the opposition Democracy for the Citizens party (DCP). Following the chaos, Deputy President Gachagua’s party has reported President Ruto's party to the police.
