The National Land Commission (NLC) has announced significant adjustments to land parcels for the construction of the Nyali Bridge-Mtwapa-Kwa Kadzengo-Kilifi Road, with 19 new parcels to be acquired. These changes, made on behalf of the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), involve deletions, additions, and corrections to existing land records.

• The NLC will acquire an additional 19 land parcels, delete 8, and correct 22 others for the highway project.
• NLC Chairperson Gershom Otachi urged affected individuals to visit NLC offices in Nairobi, Kilifi, or Mombasa to view updated plans.
• Hearings for compensation claims for those whose land is affected will take place from January 20-23, 2026.

President William Ruto announced that the dualling of the 170km Rironi-Naivasha-Mau Summit road will commence on November 28, 2025, following a meeting with Zhang Bingman, President of China Communications Construction Company (CCCC). This project, along with the dualling of the 58km Rironi-Maai Mahiu-Naivasha road, aims to improve connectivity and facilitate trade.

• The project is a Public-Private Partnership model, involving tolling, which has sparked backlash, with the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) mapping alternative non-toll routes.
• The China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), through its subsidiary China Roads and Bridges Corporation (CRBC), will undertake the construction, reinforcing the strong infrastructure partnership between Kenya and China.
