Companies Launch AI Education, Training, and Business Tools in Africa - November 2025
Several technology companies and organizations have launched new artificial intelligence initiatives across Africa. ALX, Anthropic, and the Government of Rwanda initiated a partnership to integrate advanced AI into education with 'Chidi,' a learning companion built on the Claude language model. Separately, Microsoft launched "Project Gecko," an AI initiative starting in Kenya to develop cost-effective systems with local languages and culturally relevant knowledge. Google partnered with the AfCFTA Secretariat on a program to train 7,500 African SMEs in AI integration and cross-border trade. In its Sub-Saharan African operations, Citi rolled out new AI tools, providing over 200 employees in Kenya with systems to automate processes and accelerate decision-making.
