Separately, health workers under KUCO staged protests against the termination of contracts with the Global Fund. In the education sector, Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers are demanding a new contract from the government. Teachers in Kisii, along with KUPPET leaders, are threatening to strike in January if their demands for permanent employment are not met. The teachers state they will strike from January 2026 if the government does not provide them with permanent employment.
