IEBC Faces Accusations of Interference and a Legal Challenge Over National Tallying Center - November 2025
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of interfering in the Magarini by-election. In response, the IEBC assured Rigathi Gachagua of a free and fair election on Thursday and issued a stern warning against inflammatory remarks. Opposition leader Kalonzo Musyoka also issued a warning to the IEBC against election rigging in the upcoming by-elections. Separately, the IEBC is facing new challenges concerning an attempt to abolish the national tallying center. Following this, Senator Okiya Omtatah has filed a lawsuit against the IEBC, seeking an order from the court to prohibit the national tallying center.
