Protest Victims and Youth Appeal for Government Action During Jamhuri Day - December 2025

Victims of recent protests in Kenya are appealing to the government for compensation and to be recognized as national heroes. On Jamhuri Day, victims and families affected by the recent Gen Z protests gathered to express their anguish over their suffering and what they described as the government's lack of response. Separately, youth in Busia County expressed disillusionment with the Jamhuri Day celebrations, stating there was nothing to celebrate due to the high cost of living. They highlighted that economic hardships are making everyday life a struggle.
