Three Garissa officials charged over 51 million shilling drought relief fraud - February 2026
Three officials from Garissa County have been charged in court over allegations of defrauding the county of Ksh 51 million intended for drought relief food in 2022. Separately, pastoralists in Kenya are receiving training in new climate-resilient techniques to adapt to changing weather patterns in the region. Environmental organizations are also demanding an immediate halt to the construction of the National Youth Service (NYS) housing project within Karura Forest.
