Kenya's electoral agency, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), has issued a strong warning to politicians against engaging in violence and premature campaigning as the country gears up for the 2027 general election.

• The IEBC is concerned about rising political intolerance, disorder, intimidation, and unlawful conduct at recent political gatherings.
• IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon emphasized that political rights must be exercised responsibly and within the law.
• Incidents of injuries and confrontations at political events, such as the recent death in Kitengela and injuries in Kakamega, have raised grave concerns.

A petition has been filed before the National Assembly challenging the suitability of Dr Abdilahi Alawy Saggaf to serve as Chairperson of the National Land Commission (NLC).

• The petition raises concerns over potential conflict of interest due to Dr. Saggaf’s prior role as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC), a major state landholder.
• The petitioners, representing the Kony community and other affected groups, seek an investigation into Dr. Saggaf’s integrity and constitutional fitness for the role.
• Concerns also include the clarity and implementation of the NLC's determinations on historical land injustices issued on December 14, 2025.

Members of the ruling Kenya Kwanza Coalition and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will convene for a joint Parliamentary Group meeting on Tuesday.

• Lawmakers are set to receive and review the 10-Point Agenda Report.
• The meeting involves Members of Parliament from both Kenya Kwanza and ODM, with notices issued by National Assembly Leaders Kimani Ichung’wa, Junet Mohammed, and Millie Odhiambo.
• The session, scheduled for 10:00 AM at the KICC, will also focus on policy implications and emerging national issues within the current broad-based governance arrangement.
