Tragedy on Nairobi–Nakuru Highway: 11 killed in horrific Gilgil crash - April 2026

A horrific road accident on the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway claimed the lives of 11 people in Gilgil, a town along the busy route. A separate serious multi-vehicle crash occurred in Kericho, involving two prominent bus companies, Simba Coach and Dreamliner, which left 20 people injured. In Mombasa, Governor Abdulswamad Nassir stated that a broken-down trailer contributed to the tragic accident on the Voi-Taveta highway that claimed the life of Kenya Ports Authority Managing Director Captain William Ruto's daughter and injured him and his family.
