The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) is set to launch a new digital logbook system on June 10, replacing current physical logbooks to curb fraud and improve efficiency. The NTSA has defended the shift to electronic logbooks, stating it is a crucial part of ongoing reforms to enhance vehicle registration and bolster road safety. The authority has also assured staff that the transition will not lead to job losses, responding to fears of sacking over 200 employees. Separately, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has initiated bidding for the upgrade of the 142-kilometre El Wak-Gari and Gari-Rhamu road sections in Mandera County, part of the 750-kilometre Isiolo-Mandera highway financed by a Ksh28 billion loan from the African Development Bank.
