Kenya has signed two technical assistance agreements with France's development agency, Agence Française de Développement (AFD), totaling Ksh227 million, to boost water infrastructure and clean energy development.

• The agreements include Euro 800,000 (about Ksh121 million) for the Tana Cascade Masinga Dam Raising Project and Euro 700,000 (about Ksh106 million) to strengthen water service providers in Kisumu and Eldoret.
• The deals were co-signed by Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi.
• This follows French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Kenya for the Africa Forward Summit, where several other agreements were signed.

Kenya has refuted claims that France is establishing a military base in the country following recent defence and economic pacts. Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’Oei clarified that the agreements are for military cooperation, not a military base.

• The arrangement is a Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) focused on collaboration, training, and security support.
• Key individuals involved include Foreign Affairs PS Korir Sing’Oei and French Ambassador to Kenya Arnaud Suquet.
• Speculation arose after 800 French military personnel arrived in Kenya aboard three warships for joint training and maritime security cooperation.

Kenya Airways (KQ) has resumed daily flights to and from Dubai after a two-month suspension due to regional geopolitical tensions.

• KQ plans to operate one flight daily initially, with frequency increases based on demand and security.
• The airline suspended operations on February 28 following the outbreak of the Iran war.
• Before the suspension, KQ operated 14 flights per week on the Nairobi–Dubai route.
