Mitsumi Distribution has launched a $2 million investment in an artificial intelligence (AI) cloud platform aimed at supporting Kenya's emerging tech talent.

• The initiative was announced at the AI Everything Kenya x GITEX Kenya Summit.
• It's primarily a corporate social responsibility effort by Mitsumi Distribution.
• The platform will provide affordable access to AI infrastructure for university graduates, software developers, and early-stage tech entrepreneurs, lowering barriers to entry for building and scaling AI applications.

Safaricom's My OneApp has been updated to allow users to access its services using Airtel mobile data and Wi-Fi, resolving a previous restriction that mandated Safaricom data. This significant change addresses one of the most frustrating issues since the app's initial rollout.

• The My OneApp update (v5.1.6 and later on Android) now permits usage on non-Safaricom networks.
• Safaricom has implemented this fix after initial criticism of the app's restrictive data policy.
• Previously, users were forced to use Safaricom SIM cards in the primary slot for app functionality, leading to frequent logouts on other networks.

Samsung has officially begun rolling out its One UI 8.5 update to various Galaxy devices, starting on May 6.

• The update has started reaching flagship devices including the Galaxy S25, S24, S23 series, and the latest foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold/Flip 7 and 6 series.
• Samsung initiated the rollout in Korea and is gradually expanding to other markets, with availability varying by region and model.
