President William Ruto has lauded Kenya's independent Judiciary for facilitating the implementation of key government policy decisions, particularly the Affordable Housing Programme, despite legal challenges. Speaking at the Africa Chief Justices' Alternative Dispute Resolution Summit 2026 in Nairobi, he emphasized the Judiciary's crucial role in navigating difficult policy choices. In a related development, Chief Justice Martha Koome called for a transformation of Africa's justice systems to be more people-centred, accessible, and inclusive, advocating for strengthening alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court made a significant ruling mandating that the Assets Recovery Agency must demonstrably prove a link between suspected assets and criminal activity before initiating forfeiture proceedings.
