Kenya's National Police Service has launched a manhunt for Kuresoi North Member of Parliament Alfred Mutai following violent clashes at a Youth Empowerment Meeting in Nakuru County that left three people nursing gunshot wounds. At least 56 people have been arrested in connection with the violent clashes that disrupted a public function attended by senior leaders including Governor Susan Kihika. Three people were shot and injured in Kuresoi amid a nationwide matatu strike protesting increased fuel prices. President Ruto condemned the political use of hooligans and issued stern warnings against any planned violence during upcoming celebrations, vowing legal action against those who disrupt peace. Churches have also called on the Kenyan government to take decisive action against criminals causing disruptions.
