Kenyan prosecutors are preparing to charge eight students with murder following a deadly dormitory fire at Utumishi Girls' School that killed 16 pupils on May 28th. In a fresh twist to the case, one student has been released after investigations found her not culpable, while eight others remain in detention. Meanwhile, KMTC students will soon be able to apply for Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) loans following a directive from President William Ruto. The Kenya National Examinations Council has also instructed school principals to register all Grade 10 learners on the School-Based Assessment portal by July 30.
