Chief Justice Koome Urges IEBC to Bar Politicians Sponsoring Violence - June 2026
Chief Justice Martha Koome has urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to take decisive action against politicians sponsoring individuals who disrupt political gatherings and disturb peace. She has called for political aspirants found to be sponsoring violence to be barred from contesting in elections. Koome has also reprimanded rogue police and the government for their alleged failures that led to the 2024 Gen-Z murders. Youth from Embakasi, Nairobi, have issued a warning to protesters, urging them to refrain from destroying property during the upcoming Gen Z demonstrations scheduled for Thursday.
