The National Transport and Safety Authority is implementing stricter vehicle inspection rules, requiring all motor vehicles older than four years from their manufacture date to undergo annual roadworthiness tests starting July 1. This move aims to bolster road safety by ensuring only roadworthy vehicles operate on Kenyan roads. The NTSA will also announce timelines for enforcing new safety rules for school buses, including reflectorised stop-sign arms and telematics systems. Motorists who failed to comply with these requirements could face jail time.
