IEBC fines Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria Sh2.5 million over electoral code violations - July 2026

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has fined Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria Sh2.5 million after finding him guilty of bribery and campaign misinformation. This penalty comes ahead of the Ol Kalou by-election, where the IEBC is implementing measures to ensure a peaceful voting process. Governor Anne Waiguru has called for peace ahead of the by-election scheduled for Thursday. The opposition has raised concerns about alleged intimidation and called for a transparent electoral process, while also claiming that a secret State House meeting could potentially disrupt the Ol Kalou election.
