Deputy President Kithure Kindiki congratulated Sammy Douglas Waweru Kamau of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) on his apparent victory in the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election before official results were announced. The UDA candidate Samuel Muchina Nyagah also conceded defeat before the IEBC officially declared the winner. Nandi Senator Kiprotich Cherargei attempted to downplay the UDA defeat, attributing it to a single instance in their otherwise dominant electoral record. In contrast, Murang'a Woman Representative Betty Njeri Maina threatened to repossess fishing boats distributed during the campaign following the significant defeat for the ruling party.
