Murang’a Woman Representative Betty Njeri Maina has threatened to repossess fishing boats distributed during the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election campaign following a significant defeat for the ruling UDA party.

• The UDA candidate suffered a humbling loss to the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) candidate, Sammy Kamau Waweru.
• Betty Njeri Maina, a vocal UDA campaigner, stated, "All said and done. Hii tunarudi nayo. Gataru tutiratiga" (This one we are we leaving with it. We are not leaving the boat).
• The controversial remarks have intensified accusations that development projects were used for voter inducement, despite government assurances that the initiatives were pre-planned.
