Kenya Aviation Workers Union (KAWU) has issued a nationwide strike notice, threatening to cripple the aviation sector by the end of the week if labour grievances are not addressed.

• The strike involves employees from Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), Kenya Airways (KQ), and Jambojet.
• A major dispute involves KCAA, where workers have reportedly gone 11 years without a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) or salary review.
• KAWU also accuses KCAA of attempting to replace civilian security with National Youth Service (NYS) officers, allegedly at a significant cost difference, and criticizes labor practices at Kenya Airways and Jambojet.

• The strike, set to affect Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), Kenya Airways, and Jambojet, was threatened due to unresolved labor disputes.
• KAWU Secretary-General Moss Ndiema stated the union is open to talks but warned of a "devastating" strike if no agreement is reached on grievances including the failure to conclude Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) and the use of National Youth Service (NYS) personnel.
• Some employers have reportedly operated without a CBA for nearly a decade, a key point of contention for the union.

The Council of Governors (CoG), led by Chairperson Ahmed Abdullahi, has blamed the Ministry of Health under Aden Duale for fueling health worker strikes, citing unfulfilled funding and administrative agreements.

• The CoG asserts that delays in implementing doctors' Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) are due to a year-long wait for a payroll code from the Ministry of Public Service, not financial constraints by counties.
• Abdullahi also accused the Ministry of Health of failing to honor agreements on funding and implementation of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program, leading to ongoing UHC worker strikes.
• The CoG stated counties have no dispute with the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) and will begin paying doctors CBA rates in August.
