Murkomen accuses Gachagua of plot to revive outlawed Mungiki as political feud deepens - July 2026
Mounting political tensions between Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua have intensified, with Murkomen accusing Gachagua of plotting to revive the outlawed Mungiki sect to intimidate government officials. Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has called for a probe into Gachagua's alleged hate speech before that of Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale. The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) is investigating Duale following allegations of making ethnic incitement remarks in Mandera County, which Duale has defended by stating his words were taken out of context.
