The Kenyan Senate has called for the suspension of a Sh80 billion cooperation agreement between the National Government and the Nairobi City County Government. The Senate committee argues the deal undermines devolution. A report by the Parliamentary Budget Office has identified Kisumu and Nairobi as among the counties with the worst utilization of development funds, while Embu, Narok, Wajir, Kitui, and Kilifi show significant improvements in fiscal responsibility. The Njuri Ncheke elders have declared Deputy President Kithure Kindiki the official Mt Kenya spokesman and vowed to defend his position.
