A tragic road accident occurred in Makueni County on Friday night when a matatu carrying approximately 50 passengers veered off the road and overturned multiple times.

• At least seven people were confirmed dead, with over 30 others seriously injured.
• The Kenya Red Cross, alongside county disaster management officials and police, responded to the scene.
• The matatu was reportedly travelling from Ivingoni Ward to Kyathi when it lost its brakes while descending a steep section of the Emali-Ukia road.
