The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has released official timelines for the August 10, 2027 General Election, requiring public officers intending to run for elective positions to resign by February 10, 2027. The commission is intensifying preparations with continuous voter registration currently at 2,936,516 Kenyans, while targeting approximately 28.5 million voters and doubling diaspora voting countries. Additionally, the IEBC has officially set May 29, 2027 as the earliest date for presidential campaigns to begin, despite significant pre-campaign political activity already underway. Meanwhile, the commission has temporarily halted tenders for critical election materials including ballot papers and election technology due to a review request.
