The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has released official timelines for the 2027 General Election, setting the election date for August 10, 2027, which falls on a Tuesday. Public officers intending to run for elective positions must resign from their posts by February 10, 2027. The IEBC is intensifying preparations with continuous voter registration currently at 2,936,516 Kenyans, targeting approximately 28.5 million voters. The commission has also doubled diaspora voting countries and temporarily halted tenders for ballot papers and election technology due to a review request. Additionally, the IEBC has officially set May 29, 2027, as the earliest date for presidential campaigns to begin, despite significant pre-campaign political activity already underway across Kenya.
