The Kenya Transporters Association has directed transport operators to adjust truck drivers' salaries to align with newly revised minimum wage rates, effective from May 1, 2026. The National Transport and Safety Authority has simultaneously launched a nationwide crackdown on motorists with expired driving licences, vehicle insurance, and other critical documents, commencing the operation in Turkana County on September 10. Transport Cabinet Secretary David Chirchir announced that the Rironi-Naivasha section of the highway will be fully dualled by October 30, 2026, marking an accelerated timeline for the project part of the larger Rironi-Mau Summit highway expansion.
