NCIC Begins Peace Preparations for 2027 General Election - September 2026

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has begun preparations for peace initiatives leading up to the 2027 general election, meeting with political parties and the police in Nairobi to discuss strategies for ensuring a peaceful electoral process. The commission has also expressed displeasure over a recent surge in political thuggery during this political season. Women leaders have issued a stern warning against political violence as Kenya approaches the 2027 general election, while women in Embu have launched a peace campaign in response to recent political violence. The Kenyan police are investigating violent incidents that occurred during a political rally led by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki in Embu on Saturday.
